When I think about a character choosing between saving himself or herself and saving others, the number one thing that pops up into my head is Spiderman. He valued other people’s life more important than his. Some people, like Spiderman, wanted to be heroic by saving other people while some of them just think it is worth sacrificing his or her own live for saving other people’s lives. Others just think their own lives are more important. I believe that people who make these choices are based on instincts in an emergency situation. Some people saved others and then they think bout the dangers of themselves later. I would say that this is more or less stupid. If I were in the situation, I would trust my instinct and most likely saved my own life instead of being the hero and saved all the other people in exchange for my precious life. I know this may sound selfish, but I do believe that this is what I will do if it really happens to me and I wouldn’t blame myself for doing this. I actually do put myself in a higher rank compare to other people and I guess that is why I don’t save other people by sacrificing my life. I just think it’s not worth it.
